The few weeks of school students will be introduced to or review library procedures. Students in all grade levels are asked to arrive quietly ready to learn. In the primary grades we will be talking about how students at St. John check-out books, check-in books and take care of school library books! We will also be talking about the roles of authors and illustrators locating them on the book along with the title and identifying all parts of a book.
Intermediate students are reviewing procedures and will move on to recognizing call numbers and how they help find books in the library. Students will also learn to identify and use the online library system St. John uses, called Destiny. Students will be able to search for books that are at the proper reading level, which we will often refer to as “just right” or “good fit” books.
Students at all grade levels are working toward Common Core State standards in reading.
